sooo i've just completed my first week of working at the calumet city library and i'd say i've (mostly) gotten the hang of it. "it" being the job of course but also the routine and knowing what's expected of me in my position. there are a lot of slow moments where there's nothing going on and ive completed all my tasks but being at a computer i'll always have something to do. the library director who hired me had a surprise send off party on friday with soul food on the menu (i love my #blackjob). there was a little bit of mess concerning the surprise party would overlap with the bingo game planned for that day. they were trying to cancel it but rita, the director, caught wind of it and said "no don't do that" so i got to host a bingo game. even though we've only known each other for 4 days i'd that me and my desk mate, anthony, are comfortable with each other. he's gay and complimented my canva skills. surprisingly i'm not the youngest employee there and there's an 18 year old working at circulation. all in all i'm having a super positve experience and i'm excited to continue!
now although i told myself that "because i'm in a style slump i don't need to be going shopping anytime soon and can focus on my school and work since my closet is in a good place" i could not resist the vintage market happening in pilsen on saturday. it was from 12-6 so i decided once i got off work at 1 i would go home, get ready and go on over. yes by myself, i didn't invite anybody since it was so last minute (i found out about it the night before). literally as i was driving i realized that i my stomach needed food and i forgot to grab something for the road. i didn't realize how much i was rushing until i got i the car. mom was trying to stay at the fest with me (she came over after leaving the church) but her legs were hurting and ava was bitching so she begrudgingly let me stay by myself. the main reason i wanted to go to this market so badly was because a vendor i know, fabric archives, was gonna be there and i had been trying to catch them ever since i saw their stall at a market mom and i went to but i couldn't get anything then cause mom was in such a rush to leave. they ended up not having anything i really wanted but their stuff was still cute. i ended up getting two things, a half sleeve slim fitting sweatshirt like top (that's the best i can describe it) and a knee length fur lined coat.
afterwards on the walk back to my car, my heart nearly dropped out of my ass because i realized the gate to the school lot i had illegally parked in was closed. luckily it wasn't locked so i was able to push it open and i hadn't gotten a ticket. then i drove to a mexican restaurant nearby to get some pambazos but they only had tortas :/ so i ended up at a hot chicken spot on the southside.
