first week of work + my lack of self control

sooo i've just completed my first week of working at the calumet city library and i'd say i've (mostly) gotten the hang of it. "it" being the job of course but also the routine and knowing what's expected of me in my position. there are a lot of slow moments where there's nothing going on and ive completed all my tasks but being at a computer i'll always have something to do. the library director who hired me had a surprise send off party on friday with soul food on the menu (i love my #blackjob). there was a little bit of mess concerning the surprise party would overlap with the bingo game planned for that day. they were trying to cancel it but rita, the director, caught wind of it and said "no don't do that" so i got to host a bingo game. even though we've only known each other for 4 days i'd that me and my desk mate, anthony, are comfortable with each other. he's gay and complimented my canva skills. surprisingly i'm not the youngest employee there and there's an 18 year old working at circulation. all in all i'm having a super positve experience and i'm excited to continue!

now although i told myself that "because i'm in a style slump i don't need to be going shopping anytime soon and can focus on my school and work since my closet is in a good place" i could not resist the vintage market happening in pilsen on saturday. it was from 12-6 so i decided once i got off work at 1 i would go home, get ready and go on over. yes by myself, i didn't invite anybody since it was so last minute (i found out about it the night before). literally as i was driving i realized that i my stomach needed food and i forgot to grab something for the road. i didn't realize how much i was rushing until i got i the car. mom was trying to stay at the fest with me (she came over after leaving the church) but her legs were hurting and ava was bitching so she begrudgingly let me stay by myself.  the main reason i wanted to go to this market so badly was because a vendor i know, fabric archives, was gonna be there and i had been trying to catch them ever since i saw their stall at a market mom and i went to but i couldn't get anything then cause mom was in such a rush to leave. they ended up not having anything i really wanted but their stuff was still cute. i ended up getting two things, a half sleeve slim fitting sweatshirt like top (that's the best i can describe it) and a knee length fur lined coat.

afterwards on the walk back to my car, my heart nearly dropped out of my ass because i realized the gate to the school lot i had illegally parked in was closed. luckily it wasn't locked so i was able to push it open and i hadn't gotten a ticket. then i drove to a mexican restaurant nearby to get some pambazos but they only had tortas :/ so i ended up at a hot chicken spot on the southside.

first day at calumet!

yesterday was my first day of work at the calumet library!! i didn't realize how excited i was until i was being walked around by the ms. rita mayfield, library director. i got strangely sad when she told me that she'll be leaving on friday and will be getting replaced by a new director. she said that this is a good change though so i assume she quit of her own volition. it seems like a lot of employees left a while ago and they've been filling spots. my acting supervisor says he and some others have been doing adult service jobs since they've been vacant. nevertheless the people seem nice and like they enjoy working there. at the library they use punch time machine, where the paper slides through and makes a stamp on the time card, and i genuinely felt as if i was taken back in time. i didn't do much my first day. i spent most of the time clearing my desk area and sorting through the junk drawers. i also found the key to the locked drawer in the photo. i plan on doing a lot to make the space my own starting with getting some of my own stationary but that'll come later. i did make the november calendar for the library events and sorted through the attendance sheets for this months events. the binder thats being used rn is kinda ticking me off so i picked up this big 3 inch binder from prairie (the sign said help yourself so...) that i'll put all those papers in.

during the last 15 minutes i realized that i forgot to get my photos printed for this project in my art appreciation class. luckily walgreens does same day printing so my photos were done at like 7:45 and before that i stopped at walmart to get a posterboard and glue.

when i got home i ordered some black slacks off of mercari because somehow i only own one pair of black pants and they're baggy asf. i got the same pants that i gotten from village discount just instead of grey they're black.

first library job + shopping w/ kay

this friday i had my 2nd interview on zoom with the calumet library. i was highkey taken aback when i realized that 4 people would be interviewing me but i think i managed well. i mean i must have since i GOT THE JOBBBB. mom and i were too hype when i got the call back only 2 hours later offering me the position. but the hype in me quickly died when i RAMMED by left baby toe into my best post. at first i thought “i’ve stubbed my toe before, the pain will pass” but nope i went into work and could barely walk even after pain medicine. when i got home and took off my sock i realized that my toe have bruised purple. i was scared the the bone had broken not because of health concerns or any real problems but because i had made plans with kay the next day and really didn’t want to flake. after a little research i concluded that the toe was just badly bruised and not broken since the pain had subsided and that was okay to walk.

the next day i went to pick kay up and we went to the market. luckily this one was near the southside so it wasn't too far of a drive and there was ample parking. we went in a i was quickly reminded that me and kay are 1) wear the same size, 2) have the same style, and 3) have the same style of shopping. Usually when I go shopping with steph and geselle we usually stay near each other to look at things together and i end up breaking off when i spot something on another rack. but this time it was the other way around with me tryna show her stuff lmao. she found stuff she liked before i did but i was really just not in my fashion mode that day. everything looked wack to me but i ended up getting 2 tops for $40 and she ended up with like 7 items. after that we went back to the car to find a place to eat, while in there kay took a short video and told me she likes to vlog bits of her life.

we went to a korean restaurant that was a 10 minute walk from the car. it was sooo hot in there i had to tie the front of my hair up in a bow. the food was alright, the army stew was way too salty but the bulgogi was good. i was going to pay and she was gonna cashapp me her half but i realized my wallet was not with me. kay must've seen me put it in my UO shopping bag cause she said it's probably still there in the car. after that we walked around to some stores, one of them being a witchy type of shop with stones and potions, and went home.

saturday with mommyyy

so mom and i had a very busy day. it started with us going to the dmv on 99th street to renew the license plates on my car (which apparently...
