another year older

with the permanent closing sale of joane's underway, i have decided to restart my sewing journey. currently i have 1/3 of a maxi skirt done (which i have put on pause due to technical difficulties and time) and made my birthday dress. the design for my dress is very simple, it's literally just a rectangle for the top then a square for the skirt. i was able to cut the pieces out in less than 2 hours (which i count as an achievement) and finished it with 3 days to spare.

i decided to stop applying to new jobs and accepting interviews to focus on growing my cookbook club, time will tell if this is a stupid decision or not. calumet has become bearable now that Ms. V has decided to get off my bumper and my new coworkers are nice (for now). this month's cookbook club went off without a hitch and the people who showed up this month took some pics of recipes in the new book, they said that they'll come back and register after looking them over. they loved my bo kho and tiramisu :)l. later, despite my original plan to hand over responsibility to angela, my new deskmate, i taught the second part of this month's take and make. i finished painting my little frog tray.

the next morning i picked up kaylee and we went to outfit repeater!! i was super nervous that our shopping experience would be fucked since we were more than 30 minutes late to our 11am appointment but the clerk there said she doesn't care if we're in there at the same time as other people. the space was sooo chic, if i wasn't stressed and didn't pull a muscle in my thigh bending down, i would've felt like i was in sex and the city. i got the prettiest beaded shoulder bag from jamin puech. it was $175 before tax and simultaneously the least expensive thing in the store. sadly, the j'adore dior tank tops are just as cute irl but ridiculously expensive.i love the silhouette tho so i def wanna recreate it. after that we headed down to counterfit in pilsen and the shop owner said he (might have) saw me at the chicago vintage fest. i should've asked "which one" but like a dumbass i instead said "was i fitted?" kay got a nice pair of low rise jeans and i didn't find any heels so i had to wear my black ones to the dinner. anthony had dropped out the dinner last minute so i asked kay if she had anyone she could invite cause i didn't want to text the restaurant again. luckily the girl she tryna mack on was free so

after we got back to my house, i gave kay a mini tour of my room and rested for a bit before getting ready. i last minute decided to forego the updo idea i had and just kept the hairstyle i already had. everyone got here on time <3 before heading out osariemen and zion gave me my gift, osariemen wrapped a book and gave me a bunch of book goodies to go along with it (like the book shop we saw in the vintage mall). she also gave me a beautiful card and some flower seeds. zion drew me a picture of vi arcane making that the second arcane themed gift someone got me. first being kaylee, she got me caitvi lego keychains and a little handmade jinx card (which i later realized had a note on the back). she also got me a bouquet which i took a pic with before we left.

the drive to the restaurant, costera concina tulum, was smooth (besides me missing my exit) and we all got their on time. geselle, who drove steph and isis, ended up coming to the same parking garage as us so we all walked in together. we got sat immediately then half of us ordered $15 mocktails and steph ordered guac for the table (it was tiny asf but the waiter warned us about that and the chips were good so we weren't mad). then when the waiter came back and asked us about any allergy concerns, isis drops the info bomb that she has a severe shellfish allergy........ anyway they give her carne asada tacos. i got some vegan chile dish and raw oysters. the oysters were nice but imma stick to cooked shellfish from now on. we had a lovely time and i was really happy that everyone enjoyed their food. after the restaurant we walked to jeni's ice cream. i def should've changed my shoes but whatever i made it. we went to the second floor, that i didn't know existed, for seating and sat in a corner around two tiny tables. there, kay's friend, monty, gave me some lego batman stickers. before heading back to the car we went to levain bakery at zion's request and she got herself a cookie.

when we got back to my place, monty and kay had left but everyone else stayed a bit. we played some jackbox games and did karaoke. we also danced to gnarly a lot.

saturday with mommyyy

so mom and i had a very busy day. it started with us going to the dmv on 99th street to renew the license plates on my car (which apparently...
