first cookbook club + dinner with coworkers :D

today was my first ever cookbook club at calumet city public library! i made three bean chili and french onion soup. sadly, neither of the 2 people that signed up actually showed but quite a few people showed interest in joining next month. mom came after finishing up the french onion for me, carlos, a frequent patron, also came in and indulged. anthony and aliyah joined and loved the french onion soup. i also got one of the line dancing ladies to try it since she came in early. i was highkey bummed out about the turnout but i'm sure next month will be better.

anyway i can't mention this month's cbc without going over how ridiculous this morning was. so 9:04 am, i drive into the parking lot to see that bitch fucking packed. it was crazy how many cars there were i ended up having to park on the side of the building after getting all the supplies and chili out my car. then once i walk into the community room i see that they took my fucking table this damn city hall event they held at the library. a damn "breakfast with the mayor" that for some reason required a LOUD ASS DJ to mc it. i still can't believe they took my table it was obviously in use since it had a table cloth on it and there was a buffet table prepared not even three feet away. but it was whatever ig cause i  luckily found some extras in the back closet. then i just waited for 11:00 am to roll around and went into the community room to host. during the cbc, the city hall event was ending and aliyah came in and told us we were gonna be having a "team meeting" soon. it was basically just a little lecture about talking behind managements back framed as an open discussion. i, politely, expressed my grievances about the volume level of the city hall events.

after that work went pretty normal. i was able to get halfway through my communication reading but then aliyah came by and dropped these funky looking, amazon BHM decorations at my desk so anthony and i had to put that together. while anthony and i were putting up the vertical banners that read "BLACK" "HISTORY month", ms. vee decided it was absolutely necessary that she put her two cents in. we decided on putting the banners on two separate columns with the "BLACK" banner on the left one and "HISTORY month" on the right, but for some reason ms. vee thought that because people would be walking in from the right that we should put the "BLACK" one on the right column....i didn't argue. later, from my desk i could see deanne ask the guys by the welcome desk "what's wrong with this picture?" while pointing to the banners...i didn't get up. soon after that i saw her and some other people switching the banners around.

after work, anthony, aliyah, and i went to chili's out in homewood. we had a really nice time and exchanged socials!! we talked a bit about our personal lives and a lot of shit about our coworkers. i also made them laugh a lot so i count that as an accomplishment.

routine is nice :)

today i woke up, made my bed, hopped straight into the shower, and completed my morning routine. then i fixed my lunch for work and shoveled the driveway. i got ready, left the house with all the supplies needed for the CBC and completed all the errands in my notion.

once i got to worked my lovely coworkers hyped up my new bag and i got settled into my desk. today was just as chill as any other day, a few phone calls, some references, etc. i finally got around to reading some substack articles and those were cool. ever since the 14 hour tiktok ban, i've been making a conscious effort engage in longform content more and only search (important) things up on my browser. i've been watching more DIML vloggers. I'll get around to starting my 2025 reading journey soon. i made a pretty flyer for the BHM display case. i'm so glad we have canva pro now because not being able to use dafont was starting to get to me.

anthony was telling me about this lady that was coming in later today for some FEMA assistance. they said this lady comes in often and gives them the heebie jeebies so they asked if i could assist her when she came. i said yes cause it's not like i was busy. according to them and deanne, this lady is for sureee running some type of scam ting and i was advised to "not touch her laptop" and to only "walk her through the steps". i'm no dummy so i did just that and the lady loved me for it. she, and the man she was with, gave me a $20 tip. it was just a bunch of scanning, printing, and uploading but i appreciate the appreciation.

soon after that we closed and now i am home, out of my work clothes typing this. i hope this year will treat me as well as today did but i guess that's ultimately gonna be up to me.

saturday with mommyyy

so mom and i had a very busy day. it started with us going to the dmv on 99th street to renew the license plates on my car (which apparently...
