vegetarian era and questionable financial decisions

today i made zucchini stuffed pasta shells. they came out really nice and everyone enjoyed them (even though mom was upset about the absence of meat) i sent a pic to ivie and she wants me to make her some when she comes back for mother's day weekend.

then later that night Fuzz Shop posted these adorable denim shorts that have a lil tie up in the front. i had to get them cause i've been needing some short shorts that ACTUALLY hug my legs. i plan on replacing the denim tie with some ribbon or lace

errands and failed lunches

today (or technically yesterday) after reading in the library geselle asked what i was doing after that and i told her i had some errands to run. she then asked if she could come along with and i literally could not have been happier!! ik it's small but i LOVE casual spontaneous hang outs like that. we first went to the library to renew my textbook i barely use. i also asked that one guy about a job and he gave me some post its with recommendations on it. after that we stopped by fresh mart to pick up the ingredient for this instant mapo tofu thing. on the checkout counter were these baked siopao buns, the cashier told me they had a boiled egg inside it and that's what really sold me and i'm glad i got it cause it was DELICIOUS!! the frozen steamed ones i get are good but nothing can beat freshly made. i gave geselle a bite and she liked it so much she went back in a got her own. 

after that we went to walgreens to get myself some sunscreen since it's now summertime and then we went to the aldi across the street for some ground pork since i didn't see any at fresh mart (i probably just didn't look hard enough) but there wasn't any there either :// finally i dropped geselle off and went home

i finished season 2 of heartbreak high like 3 minutes before writing this and i loved it ofc. the drama and mess is always so fun and the characters are so loveable. but i definitely did not appreciate the "misandry" storyline this season. them trying to posture it as an equivalent to misogyny was insane and i can't believe that idea left the brainstorming session. but regardless i enjoyed myself and WILL be seated for season 3. but the actors are getting a bit too old for their high school roles so maybe they'll do a time skip either at the start or end of season 3.

new pet

when i picked up geselle for school she introduced me to her new dog!! his name is milo and he was $1,300. he came all the way from texas. geselle wanted to name him Teddy or Ono(?? not sure how to spell it) but he's technically her sister's dog so she go to name him 

more church bs

Today in sunday school mom and auntie darlene co-taught the class on joy and lord they should never do that again. the way they just start preaching is crazy and they don't even be giving the kids enough time to answer questions. then i tell mom and she just don't wanna hear no criticism it's like talking to a brick wall istg

then later that afternoon when we were at auntie darlene's house, ivie text me asking to find a place for brunch cause she's coming home to hang out with all the cousins. i'm excited cause i love finding new places to eat

embarrassing myself nothing new

i made breakfast potatoes with smoked sausage and a fried egg this morning. frying eggs in oil is now my new fave way to cook them, the edges get so crispy i love it

today geselle, steph and i planned to go to Bloom's musical at 7 pm so we decided to hang out a bit beforehand to go thrifting and eat. so i got ready and went to steph's house cause she was gonna drive us around. but when i got there steph wasn't dressed and confused why i was there. turns out the musical is NEXT saturday.😭😭 omg i was sooo embarrassed cause her dad was right there too. he was like "well at least she's punctual" ugh im so stupid idk how i mixed that up

trying new foods!

today in my world history class my professor told us that there would be a cultural presentation on india down in the auditorium. ngl i wasn't gonna go but he showed the flyer and it said there would be food soooo. anyway i went and it was very nice! they had a classical indian dancer come out and perform. i wish i understood the language cause i know storytelling is a big part of it. isis let me take a few photos of the performance with her new film camera. (unrelated but i'm really hoping her wrist heals, she told me and her friend that she stabbed her tendon and nerve while whittling) then afterwards they had food. i tried samosas and pakora. as i bit into the samosa i realized that idec what's in a fried food as long as it's fried i want it.

when i got home i watched the new episode of delicious in dungeon and istg i fall more and more in love with laios. his english va is so goood at capturing his personality. also WE GOT A NEW FRIDGE!! no more mini fridges that freeze everything😁😁

grown woman things

today i got up nice and early and made myself some shakshuka!! ever since i saw a recipe on tiktok for a single serving of it i knew i had to try making it again. it was really good except i always cook my eggs a bit too long. nevertheless it was a big upgrade from last time.

eclipse day!!

in comm class today we did this team building puzzle game. i held my team DOWN but the pieces were really small so i was only able to get the top and bottom row. my teammates was of little help (except elkay, he was trying), i told them a strategy to use but it seemed like my words were going in and out of the white-y's ears. (he also asked if my coffee had alcohol in it)

 today was the highly anticipated day of the eclipse! the glasses mom got were ISO certified so i felt confident when looking up to the sun. it was really cool to see, our universe is so amazing. i finally got around to texting kay, i'm trying to keep our friendship alive so that it won't be weird if i invite her to a dinner party😭😭 although she's younger than me she's pretty cool and i want some black queer friends. dad cooked nigerian food which i've been craving since last week. i'm behind on an essay and i feel my academic motivations slipping away from me. i feel so tired but i WILL pull through!

(also i started legend of korra today and my god i think i might die of second hand embarrassment. this girl just cannot get a win.)

group assignments ugh

today in communications class me and my group talked more about our topic. we're doing a group discussion on whether or not gender roles are necessary in relationships and lemme tell you, i'm already getting a headache. the two girls, or women since they're both 20+, are on the "yay" side of the argument and it's just sad listening to them talk. and this cute white boy (who shall not be named, i have shame) is on the "nay" side surprisingly but he's definitely....a man. when one of the girls said sumn he was tryna rack his brain for a response then just landed on "no". straight up "no"😭😭 i agreed with him but omg have some tact. he also talks a lot, i had to sorta interrupt him when i was tryna say sumn to the professor. then at the end of class he was like "we should go to happy hour" which was so out of left field i thought i misheard him. ahh to be a guy for a day. then after class i talked to this girl again (idk her name so i'll refer to her as simmer, she plays the sims in class) and she agreed with me on how annoying our topic is. also she's queer so i'll definitely be befriending her yup

i stopped by fresh mart today and they finally had the buldak fried rice!! it was good and spicy (as expected lol) but next time i need to add an oil to the pan or sumn cause it was really sticking. also the cashier lady was really nice today and said she liked the rice as well. hoping they get the buldak dumplings soon. then i got some green onions from aldi, cut the roots off, and added them to the water.

week recap

for the past 4-ish days mom and i have been pretty busy with the store so i've haven't been keep up with my blog and many things have happened.

mom found out about the crash in chinatown😕 thankfully the owner of the tesla doesn't want any money and we're not paying anything out of pocket.

beyonce's act ii album, cowboy carter, came out this saturday and it was phenomenal. but people act as if they've never heard of storytelling and genuinely believe she killed someone because of "DAUGHTER". theres some people of you just can't help.

we celebrated ava's 10th birthday and her friend ariel came over. it was nice seeing callie as always. 

we got through auntie darlene's easter play, it went better than i thought it would which isn't that good. mom forced this yellow suit onto me and my grandparents loved it. (guess it reminded them of the old days)

(also the corndog place at mall is taking FOREVER to open)
