financial struggles

 mom ranted to me today about the state of the finances. she said she's finally putting her foot down with dad and him vacuuming up their money to use in nigeria. she brought up a good point about how he wants everything at the club done ASAP but xclusive been in business for 20 years and it's still having its problems.  i hope she's gonna stick to her word because this is getting ridiculous. (and i want my bookcase😭)

future endeavors

 recently i've been stuck on the idea of owning an inn in the future. i've been watching tiktoks of this lady who runs a bed and breakfast and i think that would be a realistic job for me. i've been getting better at talking to people, i like cooking and i'm learning to tolerate housework. when my city girl days are over (33) and i'm ready for a slower pace for life i think that would be a nice job to have. it would be a cozy little house, decorated as if someone's grandma lived there and all the dishes would be glass or ceramic. patrons would come and i'd get to meet all sorts of different people. although i will say, i'm not a huge fan of entrepreneurship....

of course i'll have to do some real research into something like that but that's far off in the future so let me daydream for now.

communications + food

so today i presented my personal narrative speech in communications class. (tried attaching the vid of my speech but the file is too big🙄) was it last minute? yes but i feel like it was a good speech nonetheless. it was all about me getting over my social anxiety. then during an impromptu group assignment later in the period on of my classmates said that i was one of the best speakers in the class so that felt nice.

 later when i got home i finally got around to cooking kimchi fried rice and it was a major hit with mom. she even told me that i should make it again for dad when he gets home. i sadly forgot to take a picture but i'm gonna make it again soon, mom said we should eat salmon with it. 

for dinner we had chili's and i was reminded of my love of cheesy potato soup. just so warm and cozy. i'll be sure to have it on the menu at my dinner (or lunch) party this summer

also watching jay's(kubscoutz) "lil guardsman" series has me wanting to play it myself, it
seems real cute and fun and i finally figured out that those lil rope necklaces are called "bolo ties"

decades fashion show

 sooo for the heritage tea this year ms. marge asked me to come up with an idea for the event. and i won't lie when she first asked me i wanted no parts, i did not want to be swept up in another youth event. but to get her to leave me alone i came up with the idea of a fashion show displaying the evolution of african american fashion along with a museum displaying black art. specifically african american because i was tired of them clinging on african culture as if we don't have any of our own. anyway weeks pass and i end up getting my outfit last minute but i got ava's in advance. we were assigned the 60's and i have to say i'm very proud of our outfits they were very accurate of the times.

as for the event, it was as smoothly as it could. it went well even though laniyah was acting as if she just could not change even though she was in the bathroom for almost an hour and saniyah who just didn't do it. and then the kitchen people were acting weird about the food going out. maybe they wer nervous because the youth were gonna be passing out hor d'oeuvres instead of buffet style but idk. i also brought a painting for the museum but when i searched for the painter it ended up being some non-black from spain....anywayss its not like people was looking that hard. all in all it was a very nice day and marge really did her thing. FUCK pastor and his decrepit wife. and everybody talking bout how proud they are of me and that they're glad i'm coming out of my shell. it's obvious that they want me more involved in the youth since im the oldest. they finna be pissed when they find out i'm an atheist :/

reading journey + mom being mom

 Reading my new book of the month Under the Whispering Door with Geselle in the library. She was reading this romance book called Archer's Voice. It's nice to have someone to read with. I wanna do a buddy read with her soon. After being there for 2 hours we went to get some Crumbl. After dropping her off I went to get some food from Fresh Mart and mom starting bothering me about "running around". I swear she's so dramatic I'm literally just going to the grocery store.... You'd think I had a history of delinquency(spelled that right on the first try) the way she be treating me. Anyway the tres leche cookie/cake was really good.

Forgot to mention that we saw Osarimen leaving out the school, always nice to see her. I hope she's acclimating well. I forgot to ask if she had made any new friends I know I haven't lmao

first book of 2024

 finally started AND finished my first book of 2024, Faebound by Saara El-Arifi. i rated it a 3 1/2 stars on goodreads. it was a nice read and i thoroughly enjoyed it though i wasn't aware it was a duology that would end on a clifhanger. also the plot reveals were all kinda squished together at the end which i'm not sure if that's something to be expected in books.
